This is an AU Queen Serenity. Its a combination of an oooooold fanfiction I wrote some time ago, with some modification.

PB is Merida from Brave because dat hair.

Once, on a star far beyond this galaxy, there was a beautiful empress. She ruled fairly and wisely, and had all her heart could desire. Peace in her kingdom, and a husband who loved her. But there was one thing she desired that she had not yet obtained: a child. And as time went by, as her attempts failed, her hopes for one dimmed, and the empress's melancholy affected her judgment and her rule.

Finally, she made one last, desperate plea to the only person she believed could fulfill her wish. She threw herself at the mercy of Styx, the galaxy's queen of the stars, and begged for her to grant her children, even if it meant her life. And that night, the beautiful Styx appeared before the queen herself, her eyes bright and true. It was then the empress was given a reply: two shooting stars, which fell into her gardens. The great Styx then disappeared, leaving a simple message for the queen:

"Your wish hath been given from this dark sky night;
Two babes, twins for you, with eyes blue and bright.
Both be blessed with the rod of destiny;
One's blood shall rule, one's blood shall cease to be."

The empress was overjoyed; the two babies were all she had ever hoped for. The very next day she made an announcement about their arrival, which, she hoped, would herald a new era of prosperity. The girl with dark black hair she called Iris; the girl with red hair, she called Hebe.

It was not to be. Not yet, at least. The empress had enemies - her own brothers, no less - who seized the opportunity to claim the empress a liar; the children were bastards she intended to foist on the throne. And so civil war was inevitable. But the empress did not intend her children to be casualties of the fighting. Quickly she sent both children to trusted relatives, knowing they would be targeted first.

Iris made it. She was raised for several years under the name Irene, and when fighting subsided, five years later, she returned to her mother, and to the lap of luxury, as she was named heir.

Hebe, on the other hand...disappeared. She never made it to her destination. Everyone believed her dead - the empress herself included. After all, didn't the prophecy say "one's blood shall cease to be"? Surely, then, the other, poor, star child was dead.

But everyone was wrong. About everything. And somewhere deep in the hinterlands, far from the Cerynean royal palaces, is a young girl with red hair who knows nothing of what is to come...
